Marriott Introduces AC Hotels Brand to Australia – Business Traveler

Marriott launched its AC Hotels brand in Australia with a property located in the Southbank area of ​​Melbourne.

The AC Hotel by Marriott Melbourne Southbank has 205 rooms and suites, restaurants, an infinity pool and a cocktail bar with views of the city skyline.

The hotel was designed by DKO Architecture in collaboration with Capital Alliance and features modern decor with open plan layouts. The geometric glass facade will be activated by LED lighting at night, shining among the Fishermans Bend skyline.

Meanwhile, “clutter-free” rooms feature sleek desks, open closets, natural stone tiling, textured wood, metal details, draperies, and brass accents.

Marriott says the design “reflects South Melbourne’s industrial warehouse scenes while echoing the AC brand’s Spanish roots.”

Dining spots include Sorolla, which offers breakfast in the open kitchen; the Triana Bar, featuring a long stand-alone bar and finishes in wood, natural stone, bronze accents; and pool bar Bar de Buceo. The hotel also has a modern coworking space that turns into a social hub with European-style tapas in the evening.

Recreational facilities include an outdoor infinity pool spanning the width of the building and a 24-hour fitness center.

There are also 576 m² of flexible meeting space, with floor-to-ceiling windows providing natural light, as well as a covered outdoor terrace room and pool bar.
